Last week I spent some time (and $$) looking for software I can edit 360 degree photos in.
This is possible in Adobe PhotoShop . . . but there’s a problem with that: Adobe is dropping that functionality from PhotoShop. They lump to 360 degree functionality in with the 3D stuff. And the 3D stuff is going away.
For technical reasons, Photoshop’s 3D feature set will not reliably work in modern operating systems, and as of Photoshop 22.5, we are beginning the process of removing those features.

So I went looking for an alternative.
Along the way I found a page that shows Corel’s PaintShop Pro being able to edit 360 degree images. I purchased it but I should have used the Trial because part of what I was given to understand would work does not work.
Next I found Affinity Photo by Serif. I bought that. (cost me $75).
If actually works. With it I can edit 360 images. I can add text to them – one of the things I want to be able to do.

Of course viewing those 360 degree images in WordPress turns out to be not so easy . . . the image that is NOT appearing above I have uploaded to another wordpress site I have and there it shows up fine.
Same image.
Same WP version.
Both hosted at the same hosting service.
– Now to look at settings and possible plug-in conflicts. As if I didn’t have enough work to do with the main mission of the site 🙁
While looking for a before/after image comparison plug-in I installed ‘Twenty20 Image Before-After’ which did not work with my installation. I’ve deactivate it but the problem above persists. Hmm . . . going to try Deleting it and see if that makes a difference. Nope.
So I’m going to just enter the shortcode here and see what happens next: [vr url=”http://northruckle.ca/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/360_1151_Stitch_XHC-scaled.jpg” view=360]
No dice.
